As I started my hunt for a new laptop to start my Online Business business, I quickly realized I was in over my head. I turned to my sister’s tech-savvy fiancé for help. But instead of clarity, I got hit with a tsunami of tech talk that left me feeling lost. So, I asked him to slow down and explain it in simpler terms.
Thankfully, he did just that, breaking down all the important stuff from RAM to CPUs in a way that finally clicked for me. Now, I want to share what I’ve learned with people like me who aren’t tech savvy but still want to make smart laptop choices.

Tips on How to Choose the Perfect Laptop
Connectivity is Key
Look for laptops with robust Wi-Fi support, preferably Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax). A stable internet connection is essential for seamless communication with your team, accessing online tools, beeing able to work without interruption and staying connected with our audience.
Power On the Go
As an online business owner, flexibility is key. Opt for a laptop with long battery life, ideally lasting at least 8 hours on a single charge. Good Laptops should at least have a 7000mAh battery. This freedom allows you to work from anywhere—whether you’re at a coffee shop or simply working from your favourite spot at home—without being tethered to a power outlet.
Visual Excellence
Your laptop’s display plays an important role in content creation. Look for a high-resolution screen that provides sharp, clear visuals. This is especially important for tasks like designing graphics, editing videos, and creating visually appealing content to engage your audience.
Performance is Crucial
Don’t underestimate the importance of performance. A powerful processor and ample RAM are essential for multitasking, running marketing tools, and handling data-heavy tasks efficiently. Aim for a laptop equipped with at least an Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 CPU and 8GB of RAM, and at least 6 cores to ensure smooth operation and maximize your productivity
Budget Wisely
Lastly, find the right balance between performance and value. While it’s important to invest in a laptop that meets your needs, you don’t have to break the bank.

On a Side Note:
Most of the laptops I recommend have integrated graphics cards, all of which offer decent graphics suitable for streaming and video editing.
However, it’s important to note that most only support basic graphics and may not meet higher gaming needs. There may come a day when you encounter a game you desperately want to play, for me, it was Hogwarts Legacy, and you sadly realize that your laptop cannot handle it.
It’s worth noting that there are good gaming laptops available in the same price range as the laptops recommended above. While not necessarily essential for online business needs, it’s still worth mentioning for users who may have diverse usage requirements.
